If you tuned in to the #DisneyParksLIVE event earlier this week, you saw the red-carpet premiere of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. What you didn’t know at the time was that the moment was made even more special due to some of our very own cast members who had the opportunity to bring their families to take part in the ceremony.
We had a chance to speak with some of the parents – our cast members – just before the big moment.
Even after 31 years as a cast member, Sharon Richardson still gets excited when new things open. “Working here is amazing every single day, but moments like this are the icing on the cake!” The evening of the dedication was the first time Sharon experienced Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway with her family. What made the night even more memorable was the fact that her son, Sean, was one of the lucky kids who helped open the attraction with Mickey, Minnie and pals.
Cast member Melanie Gagne shared how much she enjoyed the attraction during her cast member preview. “It’s really nice to be in the story, it was such an immersive experience!” Melanie was thrilled to bring her family along for the evening and her daughter, Savannah, was looking forward to blowing the train whistle in front of the crowd and all of the livestream viewers at home. “There hasn’t been this kind of opportunity in the past for us where you get to bring your family for the opening of a ride. I was very excited to get to share that moment with them and be some of the first to experience it!”
The #DisneyCastLife is full of these types of surprise magical moments and unique opportunities, and the dedication ceremony sure was a special one for these cast families! I hope you’re able to experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway soon and make some memories there with your own family.
