One of my favorite things about our cast members is how dedicated they are to showing up for our local community. All year long, they come together to support our Central Florida neighbors who need it most, and the holiday season is no exception.
In the span of just three weeks, cast members from Walt Disney World Resort donated nearly 30,000 toys to the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive, placing brand new toys into the loving arms of thousands of local children this holiday season.
Throughout the month, Disney VoluntEARS will also be preparing the Toys for Tots warehouse and sorting and distributing thousands of donated toys, contributing nearly 4,000 hours of volunteer service to the cause.
The Walt Disney Company’s support of Toys for Tots dates back to 1947, when Walt Disney contributed artwork that would become the now-iconic Toys for Tots red train logo, which is still used today. For over 15 years, Walt Disney World Resort cast members have come together for this annual toy collection drive, donating more than 430,000 toys to local children and families to date.
The best part? You can get involved, too. Toys for Tots is accepting toy donations in Central Florida through Sunday, Dec. 15 — there may just be one more weekend to go, but that’s still plenty of time to make a difference and brighten the holiday for a local child.
