Volunteer Family of the Year Celebrates Dream Disney Vacation

The Aguirre family from McAllen, Texas, runs a nonprofit organization in their community that delivers 40 meals a day to people in need. In recognition of their amazing generosity, the Aguirres were named “Volunteer Family of the Year” by The Walt Disney Company and Points of Light as part of a nationwide search conducted on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The Aguirres were joined by the contest’s four runner-up families on a VIP trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to celebrate their altruism. During their stay, the families were treated to exclusive events and special opportunities. They served as grand marshals of “Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade” at Magic Kingdom Park, and were among the first guests to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge prior to its grand opening Dec. 5, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The five families were also guests of honor at a Family Volunteer Day event held Nov. 23 at Disney Springs where Disney guests and cast members participated in events with local nonprofits that encouraged families to volunteer in their communities. During the Family Volunteer Day celebration at Disney Springs, the Aguirres were also presented with the Daily Point of Light Award for their inspiring commitment to helping others.
