It’s #FeelGoodFriday, and today, we’re celebrating our company’s deeply-rooted heritage in the arts that all started with a drawing of a small mouse. It’s no surprise that creativity and artistic expression is at the core of Disney storytelling, and as part of our longstanding commitment to the Central Florida arts community, we aim to encourage and empower children to step into the spotlight and chase their dreams every day.
That’s why we recently surprised Central Florida Community Arts during their weekly choir rehearsal as the latest Central Florida nonprofit to be #GrantedByDisney with a $100,000 investment. This Disney Grant will fund the expansion of their existing programming to local students who might not otherwise be exposed to the arts.
Central Florida Community Arts serves to build and strengthen communities through the arts and creative expression. Their mission is to provide accessibility to the arts at a young age, enabling enriching experiences that lead to lifelong engagement and appreciation for the arts. Through the organization’s unique programming, local students are learning how to express themselves in healthy, creative ways, while working with others in team-building environments.
With their $100,000 Disney Grant, Central Florida Community Arts will be able to expand their existing programming to even more local students. As part of this expansion, arts-focused camps and curriculum will be introduced to select schools in the local Parramore and Pine Hills neighborhoods.
During the surprise celebration, more than 175 members of the Central Florida Community Arts choir received a special serenade from a Walt Disney World Resort a capella group—it was such a touching moment to have a room filled with pure joy. The magic we felt during this surprise made for the perfect #FeelGoodFriday moment that will surely last us well into the weekend.
Stay tuned to find out which local nonprofit organization will be #GrantedByDisney next.
