Walt Disney World Resort is the biggest cheerleader of local nonprofit youth organizations who are working to make a difference for Central Florida children—and Orlando After-School All-Stars is knocking it out of the park with their mission to prepare students for success!
Nearly 100 students from the youth group recently brought their “A” Game to ESPN Wide World of Sports, where they were celebrated as the recipient of a $100,000 Disney Grant.
After-School All-Stars is an organization dedicated to leveling the playing field for students of all abilities, helping them to excel in core academic areas, increase critical thinking and encourage positive social interactions. The Disney Grant will help them expand their Opportunity Jobs Academy program, which connects students to mentors and community leaders in the industries that interest them and offers on-the-job training and experience to prepare them for job readiness.
While visiting ESPN Wide World of Sports, the students had the opportunity to connect with Disney leaders during a panel presentation for a behind-the-scenes look at career paths. They also had the unique opportunity to observe an event-in-motion, offering a real-time look into all they learned from their panel discussion.
Stay tuned to see who will be #GrantedByDisney next!
